The Story Behind Sarah  England’s World

I guess that you could say that the story behind Sarah England’s World began in my early childhood.

It all started, as with most children, listening to stories that my grandmother would tell me about her life as a little girl.  These were  my most treasured times as grandmother would take me in her arms and talk about her family, her brothers and sisters, mother, father and grandparents.  People, I, of course never knew but who  became so real to me through her descriptions of their lives.

Three Quaker brothers, named England, set sail from Bristol, England in 1723 and landed in Colonial America.  Starting a new life, buying farmland and building houses, living a life so different than the one that I was growing up in added to the allure of their lives….and to my imagination.

As I grew older I would invent stories of how it must have been living on a farm:  tending gardens, preparing food from what my family raised during the summer months, riding in horse drawn buggies, running through meadows of wildflowers, playing with all the little farm animals.  The richness of my imagination was unbounded and it was during this time that I created my friends and that first friend  was a  beautiful little mouse named Sarah (after my great, great, great Grandmother).

Over the years Sarah’s life and friends grew so real to me that I decided to design dolls and stories that would  share her adventures. As you will find Sarah is a most adventurous mouse, but her character is gentle, caring, loving, honest and so very helpful.  I know that you will love her too.

Love England, who was Sarah’s mother was born, raised and lived in Burton-on-Trent, and so I will begin her story there.  The story of their moving from London, where Love’s mother was a Lady in Waiting, to their cozy little house in the country, will captivate your imagination.  And so the story begins…………..
